Check of level of cooling liquid

Constant control

Despite the equipment of control of temperature and level of cooling liquid, you have to rely not only on the indicator, but also periodically check the level of cooling liquid in a broad tank in a motive compartment.

Precisely it is possible to check the level of cooling liquid only at the idle engine.
Level of liquid is well visible in a transparent broad tank even with the closed cover. When the engine cold, it has to is between markings.
At the hot engine level, naturally, is higher.

Addition of cooling liquid

Noticeable loss of cooling liquid is a sign of any violation in work or defect. Cooling liquid is not spent and cannot evaporate from the closed cooling system. At an overheat of the engine it can sometimes be wrung out a little cooling liquid to a locking cover. At continuous loss of cooling liquid it is necessary to check the cooling system for tightness as it is described further in the head.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

If at the hot engine the locking cover of a broad tank opens, then there is a danger of a scalding – therefore observe extreme care.
Slowly open a locking cover a hand in a glove or with a rag on one turn in the beginning and release excessive pressure from the cooling system. Only after it completely unscrew a cover.
If water is added, then antifreeze therefore at once add a little antifreeze is gradually diluted.
Do not pour cooling liquid above the mark "MAH"; cooling liquid extends when heating, and surplus follows from system.
You can add small amounts of cooling liquid in a dozalivochny tank both at warmed up, and at the cold engine.
At considerable loss of cooling liquid and the hot engine do not pour cold liquid in a broad tank. Because of "cold shock" the head of the block of cylinders can be deformed or burst the engine block.

Antifreeze

Here concentration of antifreeze is checked by the analyzer (shooter).

In the cooling system not one distilled water provides necessary cooling of the engine, and mix from water, antifreeze and anticorrosive means. Therefore more precisely to speak about cooling liquid or about the cooling means. The ratio of elements in mix for the European conditions makes 2: 3, in the northern countries 1: 1.

Antifreeze is served by ethylene glycol – liquid on the basis of alcohol which does not evaporate and is not evaporated. Just as protection against freezing, is important also protection against corrosion. Anticorrosive means interferes with education in the cooling system of a scum, rust and other products of corrosion. Therefore it is impossible to merge in the spring the cooling liquid which is filled in at the plant, it for all year remains in the cooling system.

In the workshops Audi own antifreeze "G 011 A8 C" is used. In a factory complete set application also of other products which have a mark "according to TL VW 774 C" is allowed. Perhaps, due to other concentration other proportions in the mix different from information provided in the table are formed. Therefore for the sake of precaution pay attention to data on packing. However, antifreeze of different producers can be mixed without fears.
