System of injection of MPI and MPFI

Gasoline consumption

Hi-tech Audi engines are helped by electronics a little too "am eager to bridle" the engine. At a walking speed of Audi 8,5 l on 100 km completely can manage. On the other hand, will not make a problem to increase fuel consumption more than to 12 l by 100 km.

Injection

In the six-cylinder engine with a working volume of 2,8 l the system of injection of MPI is installed. Reduction of the English name Multi Point Injection – multipoint injection is behind an abbreviation of MPI. (An identification sign of system of injection of MPI the measuring instrument of a stream of fresh air in an airintaking hose behind on the right in a motive compartment is.)

The system of injection of MPFI fuel of the engine of 2,6 l almost identical to it is called this abbreviation only for difference which is deciphered as Multi Point Fuel Injection – multipoint injection of fuel. (Identification sign: lack of the measuring instrument of a stream of fresh air.)

Distinctive sign of these two systems is the way of measurement of quantity (or masses) the soaked-up air:

  • MPI does it by means of a termoanemometrichesky wire flowmeter of air.
  • In MPFI for these purposes the air pressure sensor in an inlet collector is used (it is built in the control unit and it is connected by a hose with an inlet collector), and also the sensor of temperature of the soaked-up air (in an inlet collector).
