Mechanism of blocking of differential
If the previous Audi 80 model was still supplied with mechanical blocking of a back axis, then in A4 blocking is carried out by the EDS system. Its advantage consists that blocking affects also forward wheels, but there is a shortcoming which is that the effect of blocking is reached only due to braking of turned wheel that under certain conditions operation is less effective, than at mechanical blocking.
